What I’ve Learned
The single greatest lesson I have learned about myself is that I am a catalyst for change. I’ve worked in many different industries and held a variety of leadership roles from learning and development to marketing and training. After consulting various organizations around change and transformation for over 15 years, while earning a masters in the field, I know two things to be true – the demand for change is ever increasing while human capacity is unable to keep up.
My experiences working with large corporations in Alaska through massive transformations such as organizational and leadership restructuring, dramatically improving capacity for the future, redefining the customer experience and aligning strategic goals I’ve learned that with each company, regardless of industry, change is the greatest challenge.
A constant disconnect I’ve noticed is that although leaders talk about the need for change, most employees really seem to hate it. During a particularly challenging change initiative, a light-bulb went off. I realized it doesn’t need to be this way. Not only can change be easy, but it can also be enjoyable!
I’ve cracked the code of change and developed an approach that matches the pressure for change and our human need for understanding & involvement that makes the process of change feel effortless.
MY WHY
I’ve always been fascinated by change and I’ve seen the value in my own life. Ten years ago, I was presented with a significant life decision one of the hardest changes I’ve experienced. Instead of avoiding or pushing back, I dug in and committed to an even more significant change. I did what any sane person would do, and I left the lower 48 to become a commercial fisherman in Alaska…with ZERO experience! This one decision has led to one big change adventure after another, ultimately teaching me the secrets to leveraging change.
Because of the big decisions I’ve made, not only have I built a career I love but I have created a family and a life I never thought possible- simply because I embraced change wholeheartedly.
I started my consulting business with the firm belief that together, we can make transitional experiences easier and more enjoyable for everyone. I get why change is hard, especially in Alaska!
My passion is turning the chore of change into an adventure. This passion is what fuels my desire to help others experience what seems to be difficult – in a positive way! My experiences working on major change initiatives for large corporations have given me invaluable insight into the unique business, people and logical challenges we face every day in the last frontier.
